It’s confirmed! There will be a sequel to IT & it will release in September 2019!
Makers of the film New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. made an announcement for the sequel & they already roped screenplay writer on aboard!

Though everyone did expect IT to be a hit, no one thought it would be one of a top grossing R-Rated flicks of all time. It earned $266.1 million domestically and $478.1 million globally to date and even at one point it gave tough competition to the Bollywood released that week! So it was obvious that makers of IT would try to make a sequel to follow up the box office success. And now, as per the updates, on Monday the New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. announced a sequel to IT and also announced scheduled release date September 6, 2019!
In the Stephen Kings’ book, a group of underdog kids who team up together to defeat their small town's demon, first as kids and then as adults. And since in the screen adaptation of the book, makers told the half story and in the sequel, the plotline will take 27 years leap and be plotted as per the current time. Though, makers would be having many expectations from the fans and also to maintain the retro feel to the screenplay.
On the production front, Gary Dauberman, one of the screenwriters on IT will be writing the screenplay for the follow-up, while director Andy Muschietti is also expected a return to director seat. While producers Barbara Muschietti, Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg are also expected to team up for the sequel. Although there aren’t any updates on the casting but Bill Skarsgård aka Pennywise is expected to reprise the role!
