Global star Priyanka Chopra to play a Punjabi woman in Mindy Kaling’s upcoming romantic comedy?

Actor, Writer, producer, and director Mindy Kaling shared information about her upcoming romantic comedy movie alongside Priyanka Chopra. The movie, which Deadline initially compared to Crazy Rich Asians and My Big Fat Greek Wedding, is being worked on by the two.

Recently, while talking about the Asian representation in her projects, the actress said, "We’re really proud of it, we show South Asian Americans that are from Southern Indian. Then we show a Muslim Indian girl. Culturally we see how they’re different from each other. The Asian experience is not a monolith. Why would people necessarily know that if they don’t have shows that explain and explore that difference?"

Further, she revealed working with the global celebrity Priyanka Chopra Jonas saying, "I have this movie with Priyanka Chopra, she's a Punjabi Indian from India and I’m an Indian American Bengali girl from the East Coast. It’s so different and that’s what makes our dynamic so fun together."

The romantic comedy, which centers on a huge, extravagant Indian wedding, will include Priyanka and Mindy as cousins. Priyanka will portray her first cousin who was born and raised in India, while Mindy will portray an Indian American.

Meanwhile, Priyanka will also star in Amazon Prime Video’s Citadel, and the romantic drama It’s All Coming Back to Me. She will also make her Bollywood comeback with the film Jee Le Zara alongside Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt.
