LA's iconic HOLLYWOOD landmark to get a revamp, Deets inside
As the sign turns 100 next year, the Hollywood Sign Trust has announced a makeover for the landmark.
Think of Los Angeles or America and the first thing that comes to mind is the iconic "HOLLYWOOD" landmark on a hill, that's synonymous to the city as well as American films. Initially 'Hollywood Land', the sign was put up as an advertisement for real estate development.
In due course, as the American film industry entered the golden era, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce removed the last four letters and it has remained that way till date.
However, as the sign turns 100 next year, the Hollywood Sign Trust has announced a makeover for the landmark. As per reports, 1,500 liters of paint and primer will be used to give a facelift to the 14 meter high iconic sign.
Jeff Zarrinnam, chair of the Hollywood Sign Trust, said: "The sign is the pride of Los Angeles and we are excited for fans all around the world to see this makeover for a very special 100th anniversary."
The makeover will start from Monday (September 19) and is expected to end by November 01. It will take around eight week for completion.
