Satyameva Jayate 2, written and directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, is many things but it's not a film. You could view it as an expansive showreel for John Abraham's body. He plays three characters - a father and his twin sons. All three have granite muscles and abs that seem sculpted from stone. In one scene, the cop character is taunted by a hoodlum he is beating up that he is hiding behind his vardi. To which, the policeman says, 'saaf saaf bol body dekhna chahta hai.

SATYAMEVA JAYATE 2 is the story of a family's fight against corruption. Satya Balram Azaad (John Abraham) is the home minister in a coalition government in Uttar Pradesh. He tries to pass an anti-corruption bill in the assembly but his own alliance partners oppose. Interestingly, one of the MLA who votes against the bill is Satya's wife, Vidya Azaad (Divya Khosla Kumar). She is the daughter of Chandra Prakash (Harsh Chhaya), the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

John Abraham starrer Milap Milan Zaveri's 'Satyameva Jayate 2' is a vigilante action film on the fight against injustice and misuse of power or corruption. It is an official sequel of the 2018 film Satyameva Jayate in spirit. The crux of the narrative is how the protagonist(s) want to wipe out corrupt & corruption and the process therein.

I have always wondered why it is called 'Law & Order', not 'Order & Law'. This was explained by former editor-turned-politician M J Akbar in one of his articles. He pointed out that Law precedes Order in the English language because if everyone follows Law, then Order in society is automatically followed.

Nothing you read in this review of Milap Zaveri's Satyameva Jayate 2 will be as funny as some of the events in the movie. Take your pick: John Abraham breaking a coconut with his bare hands. Abraham lifting a bike with its rider still on it clean off the ground. Abraham enduring numerous blows while the national anthem is playing in the background since he cannot disrespect it.

Satyameva Jayate it is, so truth must triumph. I must be honest and tell you right at the outset that Satyameva Jayate 2 takes us to places that even Sooryavanshi spared us from. Rest I leave to your good sense. The fact is that there is no escaping John Abraham. He is on the left side of the screen as the bespectacled Home minister. He is also on the right of the screen as a police officer.

What's something new that can be said about director Milap Milan Zaveri's annual assault on good taste? To repeat the same things about Zaveri's films being dated, tropey and exploitative is like concluding John Abraham's favourite dish is NOT Chhole Bhature. Even a Milap Milan Zaveri character could deduce that, using some rhyming scheme and alliteration.

A shoddy screenplay, bad script and a whole lot of redundant dialogues make Satyameva Jayate 2 a perfect recipe for disaster. Like all his previous films, director Milap Zaveri this film also has a 80s masala template, an item number (for which Norah Fatehi has recieved a big 'Thank You' in the start credits), infuriating rhyme schemes, and a pyro-maniacal obsession. And if that wasn't enough, he also introduces a different camera angles in this scatterbrained flick which revolves around lead hero's (John Abraham) different body parts.

The only way Satyameva Jayate 2 (SMJ2) takes ahead from its prequel Satyameva Jayate (SMJ) is by tackling corruption and greed for power. At the onset, writer-director Milap Zaveri and the film's team have maintained that it's a massy fare, like the popular cinema of the 1980s.

An idealistic home minister who turns into a murderous anti-corruption crusader and his top-gun twin, a dreaded cop who is assigned the job of nabbing a killer on the prowl, aren't the only roles that John Abraham takes on in Satyameva Jayate 2. The lead actor also turns up in an extended flashback in the second half of the film in the guise of the siblings' upright father who uses a farmer's plough as a deadly weapon to attack a moneylender and his goons. That adds up to three John Abrahams, two too many.

The second installment of the Satyamev Jayate franchise is a kind of mess that filmmakers often try to justify as a mass-entertainer. Over the years, Bollywood has eulogised vigilantism and mob justice, this week, it is John Abraham's turn to impart strident lessons in why to take law in your own hand through a triple role that tests your ability to endure a ham-fisted performance.

There's not even a single person that's talking in this film. Everyone is shouting, screaming and yelling at the top of their lungs, leaving your eardrums craving for some calm. Satyameva Jayate 2 is a shoddy and sloppy depiction of jingoism and vigilantism at its most shameless. In the name of a vigilante action thriller and trying to cash in on the nostalgia for masala films of the 80s, writer-director Milap Zaveri gives us a stale script that doesn't even try to add anything new or unique.

Watching 'Satyameva Jayate 2', I had a sharp sense of deja vu. In the worst way possible. Because this flick featuring John Abraham In And As Vigilante No 1 could have given solid competition to the terrible films of the 80s, which stitched together sequences of action-comedy-songs without overly bothering about such things as plot and characterization.
