This is the day when Hindi film industry celebrates 80th anniversary of the film Aalam Ara which was India's first movie with sound. It was released on March 14, 1931. Since this film was first Indian talking movie, there was huge crowd attracted to watch the movie and to control the crowd, police was summoned for help.
With this film also started film music in Indian Cinema and its song De De Khuda Ke Naam par had become very successful and popular. This song was sung by Wazir Mohammad Khan who was also an actor. You would be surprised that the song was sung live and playback singing was introduced later on. Live musicians played harmonium and tabla for this song.
The movie was about the love story of a prince and a gypsy girl.
