A biopic on women’s cricket team captain, Mithali Raj, is in the pipeline!
Another biopic is in the making, and this time, it’s of the most deserving women cricket player, Mithali Raj.
We have seen some great Indian biopics in the past and will surely witness some greatest in the coming future. One such biopic is in the making. After some successful biopics on sportspersons, the much deserving biopic of cricketer Mithali Raj is finally in the pipeline. Mithali is the national Indian women’s cricket team captain and first of her name to score 6000 runs in one-day international cricket (in women’s cricket section). Mithali herself confirmed the news and said, “They (filmmakers) approached me for the film and I gave my nod.”
Talking about the hardships and the barriers the women sportspersons faces, Mithali said, “There are a lot of hardships that a sportsperson goes through while trying to achieve success. Each one’s journey is completely different from another. It’s tougher for the hose from a poor financial background. These real-life stories of struggle inspire everyone, especially the younger generation.”
The 34-year-old legend started to play the game at the tender age of 10 and was picked up by the cricket board when she was 17. After playing for almost two decades, Mithali is not only the highest run-scorer; she has many other records in the women’s cricket world.
She is hopeful that the biopic on her would inspire young girls to take up sports as a career. When asked whom she expects to portray her role, Mithali said, “That I can’t say, given my little knowledge about acting. I am sure the makers will do the best. They approached me for the film and I gave my nod. While making the film, I will help them with whatever they want.”
