After 'Shanghai' it's 'Kolkata' for Dibakar Banerjee
After ‘Shanghai’, Dibakar Banerjee is all set to make his next film titled as ‘Kolkata’. It has just been a fortnight since ‘Shanghai’ released but the director has already made up his mind to make a detective thriller movie, which will be set in Kolkata and hence is titled as ‘Kolkata’.

After ' Shanghai ', Dibakar Banerjee is all set to make his next film titled as 'Kolkata'. It has just been a fortnight since ' Shanghai ' released but the director has already made up his mind to make a detective thriller movie, which will be set in Kolkata and hence is titled as 'Kolkata'.
If the source is to be believed, Dibakar's 'Kolkata' is a murder mystery set in Kolkata but it has no resemblance to Sujoy Ghosh 's ' Kahaani '.
Sources reveal that the director is a huge fan of detective thrillers and investigative stories. His favourite detective shows include 'Sherlock Holmes' and the Bengali detective 'Byomkesh Bakshi'. A Bengali detective guy will be seen in his hardcore detective thriller. Hence, comparisons between his detective character and Byomkesh Bakshi are likely to take place.
It is not yet clear whether Dibakar's film 'Kolkata' is his innovative story or an adaptation of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay popular detective series."
Currently Dibakar Banerjee is busy writing the script of 'Kolkata' while his production designer is visiting Kolkata frequently to finalise the locations.
The film is expected to go on floors by the year-end.
