Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna reveal details about PadMan!

It is a known fact that the celebrity couple Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna have come together for the first time to make a film titled PadMan. Akshay is the lead star opposite Radhika Apte while Sonam Kapoor also has a key role. The film is Twinkle’s first production venture under her Mr. Funnybones banner. The duo opened up in an interaction with the HT Cafe like never before. Interesting excerpts from the interview are about when they talk about the film exclusively.

Akshay Kumar spoke about the importance of making this film. When asked about choosing a bold subject, he said, “If you change nothing, nothing will change. It’s not about being bold, but about breaking taboos that hold us back. I have lived with women all my life, yet I have learned more about the topic while making this film than ever before. I do not mind who I offend or whose stomach I turn by being bold, this is not the Stone Age; menstruating is natural.”

Producer and conceptualizer Twinkle Khanna spoke about how she got the idea in the first place, she said, “Sometimes, we don’t have control over what our minds want to do or where it goes. I wrote ten chapters of a novel right after Mrs. Funnybones. But while I was searching for my column, I stumbled upon the story of Arunachalam Murugananham. It gripped me and I abandoned my novel and began writing The Sanitary Man. His journey is an important story. After a while, I began feeling that the only way to reach households was to make a film about it.”

The new release date of the film is 26 January, 2018. Sony Pictures Entertainment, India partners with KriArj for the film. They are leveraging the global release of PadMan.
