Bengal felicitates KKR, Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla at Eden Gardens

Eden Garden at Kolkata turned into a different colour, as it saw a lavish affair taking place on its grounds. A grand ceremony was held at Eden to felicitate Indian Premier League 2014 winner Kolkata Knight Riders. The team owners Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla were present at the venue.

The stars received a grand welcome from around 50,000 fans jazzed up with sports merchandise. Around 1.5 lakh people could not enter the stadium and hence, were standing outside to soak in the cheerful atmosphere. The fans were eager to have a glimpse of their favourite stars and were waiting for a long time. The venue was also graced by the presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. As soon as Banerjee entered the stadium, confetti rained down to welcome her. The ceremony resembled to any glittery Bollywood event and took place on 64ftX32ft dais. SRK was wearing a white KKR jersey and sported ponytail. The actor cut a huge stadium shaped cake with KKR penned on it.

The event was attended by Bengali actors like Prosenjit Chatterjee , the actress Srabonti, Soham and June Maliah as well as state ministers, cultural icons, former cricketers and other sports personas. The rocking singing performances by Usha Uthup and Anik Dhar added a charm to the event. Also present at the event were the tribal dancers and dhaakis (drummers). Bengali folk rock songs were also the prime attraction of the event. The crowd cheered up the gala event with the slogans like "Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo" and "Ab Ki Baar KKR". The team went for victory laps with Chawla in seven open jeeps flaunting the golden IPL trophy. Each of the team players was felicitated by CAB Chief Jagmohan Dalmiya, reportedly. Moreover, Kolkata Police Commissioner Surajit Kar Paurkayastha and the stars distributed momentoes, uttariyas and the trays of Alphonso mangoes to the players in the winning team.
