Farhaan Akhtar feels women's safety is everybody's responsibility

Veteran filmmaker Farhan Akhtar who is a pioneer of the online campaign 'Men Against Rape and Descrimination' (MARD) recently expressed that it is everybody's responsibility to create a safe environment for women. He said that it is not just Government's responsibility, but every citizen's responsibility to make women feel safe.

The versatile actor expressed that it is not Police's job only to stop the crimes against women, but it is our responsibility to fight against it. We just can't sit at home doing nothing and play victim. It is a wrong practice. At an individual level, we should try to bring the necessary change in the mindsets of people and behavior. Farhan was talking to media on the sets of Indian Premiere League (IPL) show Extraaa Innings.

Farhan further expressed that the responsibility to bring the change and to create the safe environment is not belong to only government servants. But being the citizen, we must pay our part. Farhan visited the sets of Extraaa Innings to promote MARD on the show. Farhan who has directed famous movies like ' Dil Chahta Hai ' and ' Don ' said that such campaigns will continue till the things in the society change to better.

Farhan who is a father of two daughters said his demand is same as the common people that the society should be safer for everyone - girls, women or small girls. They should never be scared about going out, they should never feel that they are considered less. So these things should change. Till that doesn't happen, we will have to fight this war.

The director is distributing the fake mustaches to promote his campaign MARD. The mustaches are a symbol of the campaign.
