Farhan Akhtar's MARD initiative is making a positive impact on the youth!

Farhan Akhtar is not just an actor and producer, he is also a socially conscious member of the society, who is ready to go to any length when it comes to doing the work that makes a difference in people's lives and society at large. The actor-filmmaker has been effectively reaching out to the young minds of India to create awareness for his social initiative, MARD (Men Against Rape and Discrimination). The initiative, which came into being almost 5 years ago, has called forth many positive changes over the years, changes that have impacted the youth a lot.

In a bid to spreading awareness about the social evil of rape and gender discrimination, Farhan has been reaching out to the masses using his music band Farhan Akhtar Live as a perfect platform. In the last five years, the actor has reached out to 150 cities across the globe, hosting music concerts. Students and attendants of Farhan's concerts have reached out to the actor on social media speaking about the impact he has had on them.

MARD is an initiative which is very close to Farhan's heart. The actor had started the cause in wake of an unfortunate incident closer home with the rape and murder of his lawyer and colleague Pallavi Purkayastha by the watchman in August 2012.
