'Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid' Becomes 1st Hindi Film To Win An Award At Cannes

Nila Madhab Panda\'s \'Jalpari-The Desert Mermaid\' becomes the first Hindi film by winning top honours at the MIP Junior Kids Jury Awards 2012, at Cannes.

MIP Junior Kids Jury Award is an international showcase for children and youth programmes and films. This award is divided into 3 categories: Tweens (11-14 years), Kids (7-10 years) and Preschool (3-6 years) - which includes both live action and animation in every category.

For Tweens \'Jalpari-The Desert Mermaid\' was judged as a winner by a 15-member jury from the International School of Nice.

This movie raises the issue of female foeticide which stars Lehar Khan, Krishang Trivedi, Rahul Singh, Suhasini Mulay and V. M. Badola along with the \'I am Kalam\' actor Harsh Mayar.
