Jaya Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit to be laureled with Lacchu Maharaj Award
The two veteran Bollywood actresses, Jaya Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit will be honored with the esteemed Lacchu Maharaj award.
Considering the latest news update, Bollywood dancing diva Madhuri Dixit and the veteran actress as well as Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bhaduri will be honored with the esteemed Lacchu Maharaj award in this year. The organisers of Shakuntala Neeruj Sansthan made an announcement about this, reportedly.
Kumkum Adarsh, the director of the institute informed that Jaya Bhaduri will be honored for 2012, whereas, Madhuri Dixit will be awarded for 2013. Lacchu Maharaj award is represented in memory of Kathak exponent Lacchu Maharaj, who breathed his last in the year 1978. \'Mughal-E-Azam\' and \'Pakeezah\' are the classic movies choreographed by late Lacchu Maharaj. \'Ek Nazar\' (1972) was the film for which Lacchu Maharaj choreographed Jaya Bhaduri. Birju Maharaj, the nephew of Lacchu Maharaj, who constitutes Lucknow gharana of Kathak dance, is also the winner of this award.
The other eminent Bollywood personas like Rekha, Jaya Prada, Sridevi, Asha Parekh and Kumkum are also included in the list of Lacchu Maharaj award winner. The classical Kathak exponent, Sitara Devi had also received this award for her valuable contribution to dance.
The availability of these two actresses will finalize the date of the award distribution programme.
