Omung Kumar announces his next sports-based film!
Going to be rolled in early 2019, the film will be shot extensively in the UK and Manipur.
Renowned filmmaker Omung Kumar, who last directed the Sanjay Dutt and Aditi Rao Hydari starrer Bhoomi, will next helm a sports-based film called Yubi Lakpi. The movie will be based on the sports of rugby. Talking about the film, Omung Kumar says, “I’ve been writing this film for the past two years. It’s on rugby, a game that has its origin in Manipur where it was played with a coconut for centuries. We will start the film in Manipur and after the interval move to London. We will also be shooting in Mauritius.”
The film is expected to go to the sets in the first quarter of 2019. Revealing more about the film, the director says, “We have five writers on the project—one is from Manipur, another from Australia, two from Mumbai, and me.”
Producer Sandeep Singh, who has previously collaborated with Kumar on Bhoomi, will co-produce Yubi Lakpi. “The film will be largely shot in Mauritius and UK with a few portions set in Manipur because shooting in the state is difficult,” informs the producer.
