'The Good Road' bags Best Feature Film Award at Houston

While heading towards the grandiose Oscar, Gyan Correa\'s \'The Good Road\' has bagged in the Best Feature Film Award at Indian Film Festival, Houston.

'The Good Road' seems to be the jury's favourite film! After winning the National Award at its home land, the film got the noted recognition with the official Oscar entry to represent India at the prestigious platform. While waiting for the Oscar Awards to embark, the film has bagged in the Best Feature Film Award at the esteemed Indian Film Festival, Hoston (IFFH).

Sonali Kulkarni starrer, 'The Good Road' delivers the flavor of undulating highways of the rural India and presents its highly astonishing hidden facts. The film was awarded for its out of the track story-line at Asia Society on Southmore in Museum District in Houston.

The reputed film fest, IFFH was brought up by Festival Director Sutapa Ghosh and Asia Society Houston Chairman Charles Foster. Wherein, seven films were shortlisted and screened at the film fiesta, which included three feature films 'Celluloid' by Kamaluddin Mohammed, 'Goynar Baksho' (The Jewellery Box) by Aparna Sen and 'The Good Road' by Gyan Correa; two short films 'Afterglow' by Kaushal Oza and 'Silvatein' by Arati Raval Pandey and two documentaries 'When Hari Got Married' by Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam and 'The Golden Hour' by Jessica McGaugh and Roma Sur. Whilst, 'Afterglow' and 'The Golden Hour' were announced by the jury as the best short film and best documentary, respectively.

Foster and Ghosh were delighted to celebrate the alliance of Asian culture's artistic film with Indian film-making. As to motivate the filmmakers, they also announced the scholarship granted to the uprising filmmakers in the field of Mass Communications and Film from next year onwards.
