The year 2022 was the greatest for South Indian films on the big screen. From KGF 2 to SS Rajamouli's RRR to Rishab Shetty's Kantara, all of these films were the biggest hits of the year, outperforming all Bollywood films. Kantara, starring Rishab Shetty, was highly discussed for a long time because everyone raved about it. The Hindi-dubbed version of the film also broke box office records, and not just in South Asia!

The action thriller, which was released in theatres in September 2022, defied all expectations for both the Kannada film industry and popular cinema and became a big blockbuster. Kantara was initially only available in Kannada, but it was later dubbed into all major Indian languages and a few more. Rishab Shetty had earlier announced that the second installment of the film which is a prequel will go on floors soon. Fans have been eagerly waiting to watch the star on the big screen again. And now finally, on the occasion of Ugadi yesterday, the actor-director announced big news regarding the film.
The Rishab Shetty project is finally getting a second part- a prequel. On the occasion of Ugadi 2023, actor-director Rishab Shetty and production company Hombale Productions announced that Kantara 2 scripting had begun. The wrote, “On this auspicious occasion of Ugadi & New Year, we are delighted to announce that the writing for the second part of #Kantara has begun. We can't wait to bring you another captivating story that showcases our relationship with nature. Stay tuned for more updates”

About Kantara
Kantara is set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada and follows Shetty, who plays a Kambala champion who has a fight with an upright Forest Range officer. Kantara also starred Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, Prakash Tuminad, Naveen D Padil, and others in significant parts, in addition to Rishab Shetty. Kantara is produced by Vijay Kiragandur through his company Hombale Films. Urvashi Rautela will appear in the second installment.
