Major postponed due to COVID-19 surge; makers to announce new date soon

The COVID-19 numbers are increasing day by day in India. The pandemic has affected many industries, and the Indian film industry is one of them. Following the surge in infection numbers, many makers have postponed the release of their films.

Adivi Sesh starrer Major is now also postponed due to the pandemic. The film was originally scheduled for release on February 11. But now the makers of the film have decided to postpone its release until further notice.

In an official statement, the makers of the film said, "Owing to the aggravation of the COVID situation and curfew/limitations in most parts of the country, the release of Major stands postponed. We will announce a new release date soon. Please adhere to all COVID protocols and stay safe. Our nation isn’t safe till each one of us is safe."

The film is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka and was shot in Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam. With the first single, Hrudayama, the film’s musical promotions have already begun.

The film will be based on the untold life story of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. And it will follow his journey through childhood, adolescence, and glorious years in the army till the tragic events of the Mumbai attack, where he was martyred.

The film will also star Sobhita Dhulipala, Saiee Manjrekar, Prakash Raj, Revathi, and Murli Sharma, along with Adivi Sesh. Major is produced by Sony Pictures Films India in association with Mahesh Babu's GMB Entertainment and A+S Movies.
