The biggest celebrity in Malayalam cinema, Mohanlal, keeps himself quite busy with his acting career and a lot of intriguing projects that are now in development. He has an intriguing line of films that are to be released. Meanwhile, Mohanlal unveiled the first-look poster of his upcoming film, ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’. Helmed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, the film is touted to be a big-budget drama.
Mohanlal’s first look from his next film, ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’, was unveiled on Friday. Helmed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, the film’s title roughly translates to ‘young man of Malaikottai’. However, the makers haven’t revealed anything about the film’s genre or its story yet.
The Malayalam film star is sporting an intense look on the poster. He seems to be in a desert, and is seen pulling at ropes with his bare arms. Dust surrounds him, and a huge moon is positioned just behind his head. It can’t be said if Malaikottai Vaaliban is a period film or a war drama.
Actor-filmmaker Prithviraj had earlier added to the excitement around the film, as he said in one of his interviews, “It’s a Lijo jose Pellissery film. I know the film’s subject. I’m extremely excited to watch that film. To be frank, even though I’m a Lalettan fan, as far as that film is concerned, the fact that most excites me is that it’s a film by Lijo. That said, I think he will bring out a fresh perspective on Lalettan. It’s a very challenging film. I don’t know if you guys know this but it’s a very big film. They are going to shoot the entire movie in Rajasthan.”

The filming of ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ began in Rajasthan in January of this year and has yet to be completed. Shibu Baby John under the umbrella of John Mary Creative, Kochumon under the banner of Century Films, and Anoop of Max Lab produced the film.
The producers have also declined to identify the film's cast, but have confirmed that it would feature actors from several film sectors. ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’, written by PS Rafique, will be scored by Prashant Pillai. The film's release date has yet to be announced.
