
Mani Ratnam admitted to the hospital; Filmmaker tests COVID -19 positive in Chennai
Mani Ratnam has been hospitalised in Chennai due to testing positive for Covid-19
Mani Ratnam has had his hands full with the post-production work of his magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ which is slated for a release on the 30th of September this year. Reportedly the director is stable now and does not have any other symptoms of the virus.
Upon hearing the news of Mani Ratnam’s health, several personalities have expressed their wishes for a speedy recovery. Mani Ratnam's last public appearance was at the grand teaser launch of his next, Ponniyin Selvan in Chennai on 8th July this year. The film starring Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Bachchan in key roles is based on a novel. The story revolves around the power struggle during the Chola dynasty. The drama follows the journey of Rajaraja Chola I.
Recently the makers, Mani Ratnam and Chiyaan Vikram were presented with a court notice for allegedly misrepresenting the Cholas in the teaser. The petitioner has also urged the court that ahead of the social screening of the film, they should cross-check all the historical facts showcased in the movie.
