Filmmaker Prashanth Neel of KGF fame is planning to cast Bollywood actor Aamir Khan in his next film starring Jr NTR, as per latest reports.
For the unversed, Prashanth Neel and Junior NTR have already announced their association for the upcoming film. As per sources close to the director, Aamir Khan is the front contender for a role alongside Junior NTR.
The untitled film will be a pan-India project
The yet-to-be-titled film is most likely to start production in 2023. As of now, Prashanth Neel is busy with 'Salaar' which stars 'Baahubali' actor Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani and Amitabh Bachchan. From what we hear, shooting of the film is complete and the team is currently busy with the post-production work.
Once this is done, Prashanth Neel will commence work on the Jr NTR film. While not much is known about the storyline, the project is touted to have a pan-India release.
Aamir's last release 'Laal Singh Chaddha' bombed at the box office
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan last appeared in the film 'Laal Singh Chaddha' which also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan. An official Hindi adaptation of 'Forrest Gump' (1994), the film featured Aamir in the lead role and was helmed by Advait Chandan, who previously directed him in Secret Superstar.
Despite much hype, 'Laal Singh Chaddha' failed to perform well at the box office, owing largely to negative publicity, mixed reviews and boycott trends on social media. Post the debacle of 'Laal Singh Chaddha', Aamir hasn't announced any new film.
