Suzhal: Kathir and Sriya Reddy react to their show’s success

Suzhal: The Vortex, the first Tamil-language original series on Amazon Prime Video, has seen tremendous popularity in the two weeks since its debut. In addition to receiving favorable reviews, the program has drawn people who do not speak Tamil.

The cast of the show reacted to the love and praise they have been getting for the show. Kathir who plays Sakkarai in the series said, “Ma’am and I were talking about how as the release was getting near, it felt like 12th standard results were close. We got nervous day by day because we hadn’t watched the show. And even if we had watched, I think we would have been more nervous because we’d only be seeing ourselves. Now, I feel I have topped because I didn’t top then, so at least I topped here.”

Sriya also expressed her happiness and said, “When you dream, you see the most beautiful and fascinating things that may not happen. So, even in my dreams, I would not have thought of something like this. We have got 99.9% positive reviews. You really have to scrape the barrel to see something negative. This has been so overwhelming.”

The criminal drama Suzhal takes place in a tiny town. It depicts how a horrific incident splits the community apart and incorporates features of the distinctive Mayana Kollai micro-festival. Although Kathir and Sriya Reddy have both enjoyed success on the big screen, they claim there was no reluctance in joining Suzhal on OTT. “The inception itself was big. It was as big as any big movie. So, there was no hesitation there,” said Sriya.

Suzhal: The Vortex is created by Pushkar and Gayathri, and directed by Bramma and Anucharan. The series is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
