Akshaye Widhani takes charge as the new CEO of Yash Raj Films

Yash Raj Films made an announcement today about Akshaye Widhani being made its new Chief Executive Officer. Till recently, Widhani held the position of Senior VP- Finance and Business Affairs and the Head of Operations in YRF Studios.

Akshaye has had a long-standing association with Yash Raj Films. He joined the company at the age of 22 and has been a part of it for the last 17 years. He is credited for setting up several important business verticals for Yash Raj Films and ensuring that they grow over a period of time. His first role in the company was that of a studio manager. In the year 2005, he was given the responsibility to set up the operations for YRF Studios. He has experience of working in diverse departments like finance, operations and strategy.

In a statement officially released by YRF, Akshaye said, “I am incredibly honored and humbled to assume the role of CEO of Yash Raj Films, a company in which I have spent the last 17 years of my life learning. I’m happy that I had a front-row seat as a member of the leadership team at YRF under Yashji and Aditya Chopra during the course of this time. I share their passion and commitment towards innovation, creative excellence, future expansion plans and also giving back to the industry that has supported and made us who we are today.”

Founded in the year 1970 by the late Yash Chopra, Yash Raj Films is one of the leading production houses in the Hindi film industry. In its 52nd year, the company is ready to release a bunch of big-ticket films including ‘Prithviraj’, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ and ‘Shamshera’. The announcement of its Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Pathaan’, which is slated to release on 25 January, 2023, was made today.
