In a recent interview, actor Ajay Devgn talked about his movie Runway 34 and its lackluster box office performance. The actor thinks he didn't let his audience down with the movie when it got a second chance on the OTT platform. Under the banner of his production company, Ajay Devgn FFilms, Ajay is the film's director.
Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, and Rakul Preet Singh appear in Runway 34. It tells the tale of a disastrous flight landing and the inquiry that followed against the pilots in question. According to sources, the movie only made three crores on opening day, making Ajay Devgn's opening weekend the worst since Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge (2010). Additionally, the movie's critical reception was split, ending on OTT.
Ajay asked whether he would contemplate a movie's re-release after Runway 34 by saying, ‘Runway 34's phenomenal run on OTT and the compliments that followed made me feel partly vindicated. I was relieved that I hadn't entirely let my viewers down as a filmmaker. I wished it had enjoyed a successful run in theatres. As I mentioned in my earlier response, the box office does matter. But I wouldn't think of trying to re-release Runway 34 in theatres (at least not at this point). It is advised never to say never. Who knows, then.’
During the discussion, he further stated, ‘A movie's box office is satisfying. I'm pleased that Drishyam 2 continues to sell more tickets than anticipated, both in India and abroad. Since this film was made by (Abhishek Pathak, director) Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, Rockstar DSP (music director), and all the other co-actors and technicians, I must admit that I am ecstatic for myself as well as these individuals. However, I am also happy for the film industry because we are experiencing a difficult time. Being altruistic, we need all movies to make money so that the cinema industry may continue to exist. There have been intermittent attacks after the pandemic. We as an industry find this to be concerning.’
Bholaa will be Ajay's upcoming film.
