When questioned about her opinion of infidelity during the Kalank film's promotional period, the actress reportedly said that she doesn't believe in infidelity," citing her father Mahesh Bhatt as an example.

The online community is harshly criticising Alia and getting personal in their remarks about what she said. They also praise her union with Bollywood sensation Ranbir Kapoor and predict that they will be able to tell when he cheats on her by watching her response. Apparently, Alia said, "My father met my mother because he had an extramarital affair. I am not as black and white about life; sometimes in life, things happen for a reason.
