The director claimed that Nagraj Manjule's "Sairat" damaged Marathi cinema since everyone tried to imitate it after it became successful. Anurag Kashyap remarked that Bollywood is also being destroyed by its fixation with films about all of India. Anurag stated during a roundtable discussion organized by Galatta Plus that "everyone is striving to make a pan-India film right now. Success will be between 5 and 10%.
