Arijit Singh discusses Gerua song controversy for the first time; Here’s what he said!
Earlier, Arijit Singh's concert in Kolkata was postponed, and a political party was accused of intervening when the singer sang Rang De Tu Mohe Gerua. At a concert in Kolkata on February 18, the artist responded to the situation.

Rang De Tu Mohe Gerua, when Shah Rukh Khan lips synced in Dilwale, Gerua immediately got popular. But, Deepika Padukone, SRK's co-star, courted controversy when she appeared in the Pathaan song Besharam Rang wearing a gerua attire. Arijit Singh sang a verse from the song Gerua in West Bengal at the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) 2022. Days later, word spread that the concert by Arijit Singh, which was supposed to take place on February 18, had been postponed because authorities had refused to grant them permission. The opposition party and the ruling party engaged in a political brawl as a result. Currently, Arijit Singh has addressed the controversy for the first time while taking the stage at the concert in Kolkata on February 18.
ARJIT ADDRESSES OVER THE CONTROVERSY OF GERUA
For the first time, Arijit Singh addressed the issue around his song Gerua. The singer's show Friday night in Kolkata lasted over four hours. Also, he sang Rang De Tu Mohe Gerua. He stated the following in regards to the song's controversy: “So much of controversy over a colour! Saffron is the colour of Sanyasis, of Swami Ji (vivekananda). Had he worn white, would there be a controversy over the white color as well?
BESHARAM RANG CONTROVERSY
For the uninitiated, Besharam Rang from Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, too received boycott requests. A Madhya Pradesh minister was upset since the song included saffron-colored attire. In the song, Deepika sported a saffron bikini. He also claimed that Pathaan has some unpleasant passages and threatened to have it banned in Madhya Pradesh if they were not modified. Other politicians thereafter made statements that were similar to this one.
ARIJIT SINGH SANG GERUA AT KIFF 2022
On December 15, Shah Rukh Khan joined Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Prosenjit, Rani Mukerji, Shatabdi Roy, Arjit Singh, Babul Supriyo, and other well-known actors during the Kolkata International Film Festival 2022's opening ceremony. The audience asked Arjit Singh to perform a song as he came on stage. Taking over, he exclaimed that with Shah Rukh Khan on stage, it was impossible for him to refrain from singing his favourite song, Gerua. He sang the Dilwale song, captivating everyone with his melodious voice.
