Shortly before her demise, the ace singer had appeared in an interview where she spoke about her dream of opening an old age home for veteran Indian actors. She had revealed that she wants to construct an ashram where senior actors, who are lonely, can spend their last days in peace and in each other's company.

“It is such a joy to have one’s family with you in old age. But what about those who are old and alone in their last years? My heart reaches out to the senior actors of our film industry who have died alone. Maine suna hai Lalita Pawar ji aur Achla Sachdev ji, jo kitne mahaan kalaakar the, unke saath koi bhi nahin tha (I’ve heard that two great actresses Lalita Pawar and Achala Sachdev died alone. There was no one besides them) Kitne sharm aur dukh ki baat hai (how shameful and sad this is),” the multiple award-winning singer had told a leading publication.

And from what we hear now, Lata Mangeshkar's last dream will soon be a reality. As per reports, the late singer's family is going ahead with her dream project. It has also been reported that the Maharashtra Government has already allotted land for the old age home which will come up in Thane, on the outskirts of Mumbai City.

Noteworthy, Lata Mangeshkar is widely considered to have been one of the greatest and most influential singers in India. Her contribution to the Indian music industry in a career spanning seven decades gained her honorific titles such as the "Queen of Melody", "Nightingale of India", and "Voice of the Millennium".

Mangeshkar passed away from multiple organ dysfunction syndrome on 6 February 2022, at the age of 92. She had undergone 28 days of constant treatment for pneumonia and COVID-19.

Her death was mourned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers, besides members of the Indian Music Industry, Indian film industry, Indian cricketers, and fans worldwide.
