Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway: Ambassador Of Norway DISMISSES The Film As ‘Work Of Fiction’, States It As A Factual Mistake
Rani Mukerji is one of Bollywood's most loved actresses. Every time she appears on the big screen, she ensures that the audience is blown away by her acting abilities. Rani's film 'Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway' was released worldwide yesterday.
According to reports, the film made Rs 1.5 crore on day one at the Indian box office. The film, which is based on the true tale of an Indian couple battling the Norwegian foster system for possession of their children, has elicited a strong reaction from the country. However, the Norwegian Embassy to India has condemned the movie as a "work of fiction", stating that it contains factual mistakes.
Norway Ambassadors React To The Film’s Plot
The film shows the tragedy of an Indian immigrant couple whose two children were removed from their care by the Norwegian foster system in 2011, citing cultural differences. However, the Norwegian Embassy has issued a statement explaining that children are not taken away from their families because of cultural differences such as eating with their hands or sleeping in bed with their parents.
Check out their post:
The Norwegian Ambassador stressed that Norway is a heterogeneous culture that supports and respects various family systems and cultural practices. According to the embassy's statement, children are only placed in alternative care if they are subjected to neglect, aggression, or abuse.
Nevertheless, the embassy has contested the film's premise that the foster system is a profit-driven business, arguing that it is a question of obligation rather than a source of cash. The statement also acknowledged that child welfare matters are complex and difficult for all parties concerned.
