'Fitoor' witnesses a below average opening on its first Friday!

Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur starrer film ‘Fitoor’ witnessed a below average opening on its first Friday. The film raked in Rs. 3.61 crores on its first Friday at the domestic markets. This is Katrina’s lowest opening since 2010. Director Abhishek Kapoor’s last film ‘Kai Po Che’ made the opening day business of Rs. 4.50 crores. And, ‘Fitoor’ being backed by a stellar star cast including Katrina, Aditya and Tabu still could not rake in more numbers. The film was widely promoted and had created enough buzz, hence it is unexpected to learn that it garnered disappointing numbers on its opening day. The movie received average reviews from the critics as well as the audience.

Abhishek Kapoor’s ‘Fitoor’ is an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations. It narrates an intense love tale with some intriguing moments rather in a slow pace and hence, caters to a niche audience. This love story released alongside another love saga ‘Sanam Re’ starring Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam in the lead. Surprisingly, it gave a tough competition to the Katrina Kaif starrer and emerged to rake in more numbers! ‘Fitoor’ needs to build up its audience and has to have a huge jump to witness a decent first week collection.
