‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ directed by Anurag Kashyap was in news before its release due to its screening in Cannes Festival. It also made news because it was based on real incidents which took place in Dhanbad, and the writer, who belonged to Wasseypur, had got threats from some people of Dhanbad.

' Gangs Of Wasseypur ' directed by Anurag Kashyap was in news before its release due to its screening in Cannes Festival. It also made news because it was based on real incidents which took place in Dhanbad, and the writer, who belonged to Wasseypur, had got threats from some people of Dhanbad. Hence, despite its crude content and abusive languages, it collected around INR 10 crores in its opening weekend.
There was 50% drop in the 2nd week of this film. It collected only INR 1.35 crores on the 2nd Friday. However, the film managed to earn total INR 20.95 crores in first 10 days which would make its maker happy because it has recovered its making cost and even crossed the making budget. This has inspired its makers to release its 2nd part soon (may be in August this year).
