On May 12, Bollywood witnessed a clash of two films: Sarkar 3 and Meri Pyaari Bindu at the box-office. Sarkar 3 is Ram Gopal Varma’s third installment of the successful Sarkar franchise starring Amitabh Bachchan in a key role while Akshay Roy’s Meri Pyaari Bindu is a love tale that stars Ayushman Khurana and Parineeti Chopra in the lead.
The films had to compete with each other as well as the Baahubali giant at the theatres, which is still running successfully. Both the films witnessed a low collection during its first weekend which is not a positive sign for the makers. Meri Pyaari Bindu made Rs. 1.75 crores on Friday, Rs. 2.25 crores on Saturday and Rs. 2.50 crores on Sunday. Hence the total first weekend collection stands at Rs. 6.50 crores at the domestic front.
While Sarkar 3 raked in Rs. 2.10 crores on Friday, Rs. 2.25 crores on Saturday and Rs. 2.40 crores on Sunday. Hence the total first weekend collection stands at Rs. 6.75 crores at the domestic front. RGV’s film also stars Manoj Bajpai, Yami Gautam, Jackie Shroff and Amit Sadh among others.
