Atul Kulkarni Biography

Atul Kulkarni is an Indian actor born on September 10, 1965 in Belgaum, Karnataka. He hails from Maharashtrian family of Solapur. His father being a businessman and mother, a housewife. Academically he was below the average student who had to repeat his Class 12th board exam, further when he opted for engineering he had to drop out due to the poor performance.

Just when Atul thought he was good for nothing, he found a ray of ambitious light in acting. He recognized his acting passion with a play in his high school days, which he later blossomed in D.A.V. College by actively participating cultural gatherings. He went on following his dream and joined an amateur Solapur's theatre group named "Natya Aradhana". Here he got the experience of working both on-stage as well as back stage which helped him a lot in his career. By then, Atul was clear about his aim. He got enrolled in National School of Drama, New Delhi and acquired Post Graduate Diploma in Dramatic Arts.

Atul's brilliant acting skills on stage earned him his first film in Kannada 'Bhoomi Geetha' in the year 1997. After lightening the silver screen with his Marathi and Telugu films, he marked his debut in Bollywood with critically acclaimed film 'Hey Ram', which earned him his first National Award in the Best Supporting Actor category. His next film was Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Chandni Bar', which again won him his second National Award.

Atul has an excellent career graph with number of Hindi films like 'Satta', 'Khakee', 'Page 3', 'Rang De Basanti' and many blockbuster films in Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and English languages.
