Shernaz Patel began her career in 1985 with a TV serial, Janam, in which she appeared opposite actor Kumar Gaurav. Later in 2002 the actress appeared in Aparna Sen's Mr & Mrs Iyer. She was also seen in films like Black (2005), Home Delivery: Aapko Ghar Tak (2005), Family: Ties of Blood (2006) and more. Shernaz played a character named Jennifer in the Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (2006).

She was seen in the English films, Little Zizou and The President Is Coming in 2009. Shernaz appeared in Shabana Azmi's Kalpvriksh (2009) and will soon be seen as Praveena in Lamhaa (2009) by Rahul Dholakia.
