Jenna Ortega has received accolades from fans for correctly pronouncing Rihanna's name this week at the Golden Globes.

Ortega walked the stage on Tuesday to deliver the trophy for "Best Song in a Motion Picture" during the 80th annual awards show. The 20-year-old introduced some of the other nominees in the category, including Rihanna for her song "Lift Me Up," before declaring RRR's "Naatu Naatu" as the winner. In the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the song was played.
In an interview with Showbiz Tonight in 2012, Rihanna stated that the correct pronunciation of her name is "Ree-an-nah." Viewers tweeted about the two winners after the ceremony on Tuesday and voiced displeasure that the "Umbrella" singer did not take home the prize.

“I’m gonna get to the original song in a minute, we got artists like Taylor Swift and Rihanna competing for that award,” in a video uploaded on TikTok, she said as she began to speak.The audience then cheered her comment, and she continued:“I know, I’m very excited.”

Even though the singer's name is occasionally pronounced "Ri-Awhn-Ah," Ortega pronounced it like "Ri-An-ah" on stage.
FANS REACTION
Fans commended the Wednesday star for pronouncing Rihanna's name correctly in the TikTok video's comments section. “She actually said it right,” one commented , while another said: “Ree-an-nah is how i say it. Wasn’t til a few years ago I heard Rihanna say her name and I was [mindblown].”
Fenty Beauty, Rihanna's cosmetics line, praised Ortega in the comments section, writing: “Miss Wednesday understood the assignment.”
“Jenna Ortega said Rihanna’s name correctly. Iconic,” one said. “Even Jenna Ortega was disappointed after just pronouncing Rihanna’s name CORRECTLY,” another commented. A third person stated: “@jennaortega was the only one to pronounce @rihanna ‘s name correctly tonight. One day we will have a community meeting about how the queen prefers her name to be said.”

When Rihanna and her boyfriend A$AP Rocky decided to skip the red carpet on Tuesday, they also made news when they arrived at the ceremony late. The rapper dressed in a traditional tuxedo, and Rihanna opted for a black off-the-shoulder velvet gown with enormous dramatic sleeves.
