Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in and produce the upcoming heist thriller, titled Cut & Run. The actor will supposedly play the character of the ring leader of a group of thieves who spend their time stealing from super-yachts and escaping on high-powered speed boats.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the logline for the project reads, “A group of thieves using high-powered speedboats to rob superyachts steal the wrong thing from the wrong group of people.”
Gyllenhaal will produce the film at his company Nine Stories Productions, in association with Brian Oliver and Bradley Fischer’s New Republic. Cut & Run is the latest partnership for the actor and New Republic. They have previously worked together on the upcoming Universal title Ambulance, directed by Michael Bay.
John Glenn is writing the script as well as producing. No further information about the forthcoming film is available at the moment, including additional cast or a release date. If all goes well, Cut & Run may find its way into cinemas next year.
Jake Gyllenhaal was last seen in Netflix thriller The Guilty. He next stars in Ambulance, set to debut in cinemas on April 8. The actor was also recently in talks to star in a Road House reboot at MGM. However, there has been no fresh update on the news.
