One Line Review: A shandaar car-naama must see for some action and adventure in Ranbir Kapoor style! Positive Points: Ranbir Kapoor's flashy besharam acts, Eclectic performance by Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, A fresh story cooked with Delhi ka tadka, Vibrant song visuals. Negative Points: Haywire direction at certain points. Plot: Babli (Ranbir Kapoor), a fearless flamboyant conman lives in Delhi. Raised without his parents, Babli grows up in an orphanage called Jai Hind anathashram. As a grown up, Babli develops a shameless nature and does not regret about any of his wrong deeds, at the same time, his mind is clean devoid of any evil thoughts. Babli, a car mechanic by profession, swiftly steals the expensive cars along with his friend Titu (Amitosh Nagpal), sells them and uses this money for the betterment of orphanage children, where he belonged to as a child. As there is no one to show the right path of life to Babli, he becomes unable to understand the difference between right and wrong. At a certain juncture, Babli stumbles upon Tara Sharma (Pallavi Sharda), a manager in an MNC. Babli tries to woo the beautiful Tara in every possible way, sometimes by pastering her mother (Himani Shivpuri) and sometimes by flaunting his "mawaali" side for proposing her over and over again. However, Tara does not show green signal to Babli by any means. Tara's heart is full of sour thoughts about Babli, over his vagabond image. Meanwhile, a Chandigarh-based bigwig, Bhimsingh Chandel (Javed Jaffrey) makes a deal with Babli to loot the posh cars and earn loads of moolahs. Unknowingly, Babli runs off with Tara's newly bought Mercedes car, leaving Tara in a big squeeze. After knowing this, Babli sees stars in daylight and leaves Tara and Babli in a big mess. Direction And Other Technical Aspects: 'Dabangg' fame director Abhinav Kashyap has unraveled his latest outing, 'Besharam'. Although, the movie does not possess any strong social message or it does not open the golden doors of knowledge for the viewers, it colourfully entertains oneself at par. Garnished with "khandaani" Kapoor touch, the film boosts as an out and out masala entertainer watchable along with your family. As the story proceeds a little gradually in the first half, it seems stagnant for a point of time, however, easily bearable with Ranbir's mischievous and charming acts. The second half takes a good pace with speedy unfolding of events, thus makes the tale more gripping. After seeing the fight sequences, it is evident that they are designed keeping in mind Ranbir's lean physique and hence, retain authenticity. Needless to say, the prime attraction of this film is power-packed Kapoor trio, comprising of Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh and Ranbir Kapoor dazzling the screen together. The veterans, Rishi and Neetu got to play a meatier part in the film and they appeared as witty Haryanvi cops bagged whistles with their comic punches and with all the maara-maari with the goons. Apparently, featuring Kapoor family together for the first time seems director's gimmick to snatch all the applause. The songs peep every now and then in the first half, thus leaving it intermittently entertaining. The other flaw in the flick is somewhere the story gets easily predictable and one can get a feel of watching a Charlie Chaplin film. Nevertheless, some tender moments are wonderfully enlivened by the director, like Babli turning apprehensive after his lady love getting hurt, all the kids from orphanage celebrating their birthday on a specific day, as none of them know their date of birth, being reared without parents and the emotional emptiness of Chautala couple, being childless. A pool of corny punchlines bring the house down with laughter, some of them include "O mere Men In Black, ye Mission Impossible Hai, Tere se na patani", "Uska naam beauty hai to surname kya hai parlour?" and many more. When it comes to cinematography, the film is picturised in Delhi as well as in some parts of Chandigarh and the beauty of both the cities is fabulously captured in the lenses by the cinematographer Madhu Vannier. The art direction and background score suit the film in a great manner. Performance: The mogul of superstars, Ranbir Kapoor emerges as the show stealer and delivers a mind-blowing performance as a desi munda. All praises for this wonder boy for his brilliant dialogue delivery, stunning looks and spectacular dance moves, especially in title song with flashy outfits. The budding beauty Pallavi Sharda takes time to arrive in the pulse of Kapoor lad, however afterwards plays her part conveniently well with ample grace. Rishi Kapoor once again gets a chance to show his comic side onscreen after 'Shuddh Desi Romance'. The veteran tickles one's funny bone in the role of Police Inspector Chulbul Chautala and brings a great laughter in the cinema hall. Yesteryear's enchanting actress, Neetu Singh dons an entirely new look as a witty and a little greedy cop, Bulbul Chautala. Neetu plays her part with great aplomb as well as showcases some combat skills too. Javed Jaffrey essays a role of a white-coloured villain. Though he does not appear on the screen for a long time, he grabs the attention with his mighty voice tone. Not to forget Amitosh Nagpal, the best friend of Ranbir. Albeit, Nagpal enacts a short role, he had portrayed it very skillfully bringing a lot of realism in it. The other starcast like Himani Shivpuri, Kamal Kiri, Kunal Agarwal and Tikendra Yadav lend a good support in taking the story ahead. Music: Being a romantic film, the music part forms its life. The music composer Lalit Pandit has painted the songs like "Besharam", "Tere Mohalle", "Love Ki Ghanti" and "Aa Re Aa Re". Though these music tracks appear a vibrant visual treat, they don't seem to get more of a shelf life. The other tracks like "Dil Ka Joh Haal Hai" and "Tu Hai" fail in making themselves noticeable to the viewers. Final Verdict: Though the story does not hold much "dum" in it, it is a sure-shot must watch this weekend along with your loved ones, just for Ranbir Kapoor's mesmerizing "adakaari" and some "dhishum-dhishum" by the golden couple, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. In a nutshell, the movie absolutely lives up to its crunchy tagline, "Na samman ka moh, Na apmaan ka bhay"!
