Sunny Kaushal can dance, he can act and he is sure to leave you smitten by the end of this dance flick. He's the biggest take away from this film. But not without the brilliant support of his co-star Rukshar Dhillon, who makes a cracking debut in this one. Bhangra Paa Le may not have the most intriguing storyline, but it will leave you smiling and grooving as it weaves a story around the jolliest folk dance of the country.

The story is divided into two parts, a current one and another happening in 1944. We've our lead in Jaggi (Sunny Kaushal) who believes he's the world's best Bhangra dancer and then he meets Simi (Rukshar Dhillon). Simi also believes the same until they both get in a dance competition opposite each other.

BHANGRA PAA LE revolves around Jaggi (Sunny Kaushal), a Punjabi lad and a vehement Bhangra enthusiast. He gets through to an international competitive platform and needs to win it over other contestants to exhibit the dance form to a larger audience. However, Jaggi isn't your regular Bhangra guy. He is also trying to transcend beyond a set dance form and bring flavours of fusion by merging Bhangra with several Western dance forms.

In a dusty battlefield during the ongoing World War II, a soldier pulls up a dhol (drums), and starts beating out a tune. His song emboldens the deflated company to charge into battle. Sunny Kaushal plays the soldier. The next scene cuts to a modern day college in Amritsar, where girls are auditioning for a spot in a Bhangra troupe. The lead dancer of this college troupe is also Sunny Kaushal.

Ek bhangra dancer Jaggi (Sunny Kaushal) aha aha.. dreams to get into an international competitive dance platform, win the competition and make bhangra do balle balle all over the globe.. wah wah wah wah.. Jaggi's grandfather Kaptaan Singh's story runs parallel with this dream fusion of Bhangra with western dance forms. Kaptaan Singh (Sunny Kaushal again), a warrior fighting the World War II who is in the battalion for his sheer dancing skills.

Actors need only an excuse to break into a dance in Bollywood spectacles. But in first-time director Sneha Taurani's Bhangra Paa Le, celebrating the age-old Punjabi folk dance form, it forms the core and catalyst across two timelines running parallel between the past and present.

2018 was high on josh as Vicky Kaushal received accolades for playing an army man in Uri: The Surgical Strike, this year begins with his younger brother Sunny Kaushal exhorting you to join him for bhangra. The dance film Bhangra Paa Le may falter on many levels -- from its storyline, script, narrative and pace - expect Sunny to dance into your hearts with his performance.

Both Jaggi and Simi have been harbouring the dream of winning Amritsar's biggest inter-college bhangra competition for their respective colleges (who also happen to be arch rivals). But, amidst endless banter and bhangra beats, the unusual duo finds love. With feelings seeping into their lives uninvited, will their zest to win the ultimate contest - Bhangra Battle in London - take a backseat?
