<strong>DESI KATTEY is preposterous!</strong><br/> I bet, if you show Dharmendra fans this movie they are bound to say, ''Kattey, mein tera khoon pi jaonga.'' In fact, that would just be a mild reaction to describe DESI KATTEY that has undergone the process of film-making and has finally gone through the censors for a release!

Two child actors, both performing very badly, grow up to be adult actors, one of whom turns out as a decent actor. As for the other, a crash course in basic emoting is recommended. To find out which one of the two protagonists in this extended gaatha (saga) of guns, guts and some glory redeems himself, you need to see Desi Kattey, a surprisingly watchable, though at times stretched out beyond belief, yarn yoking crime and sports in a way that we haven't seen in any film.

<strong>Desi Kattey is blank fire</strong><br/> Criminal reform is among the most frequent plots Bollywood has loved narrating. Since the time V. Shantaram made the classic Do Ankhen Barah Haath in 1958 via the cult blockbuster Sholay and its zillion byproducts including Karma and Army, filmmakers have often tapped the box office-savvy mix of thrills and twists that comes with tales of delinquents getting a second chance. Anand Kumar's Desi Kattey tries to give a spin to that familiar idea with a sport movie angle.

<strong>The film is sordid and a painfully long affai</strong><br/> Director Anand Kumar's latest film 'Desi Kattey' hit the screens today. Starring television actor Jay Bhanushali and Vinod Khanna's nephew Akhil Kapur in leading roles, the film touches several genres: from romance, thriller, friendship, betrayal and sportsmanship; to patriotism and terrorism.

<strong>A random mix of violence, Desi Kattey isn't going anywhere</strong><br/> Anand Kumar's Desi Kattey, which hits theatres on Friday, didn't raise our hope much with its trailer or pre-release promotions. It was a lost cause right from the word go. Trouble is, Desi Kattey is even worse than what we expected!

What's Good: Absolutely nothing What's Bad: Almost everything Loo break: I haven't seen the loo this crowded in a while. Watch or Not?: Desi Kattey is the kind of film that makes me curse my otherwise really likeable job. Why on earth would someone decide to spend so much money in making a film that reads ordeal all over it. There is nothing good about the film and it doesn't even try its hand to rise above its tedious storyline. It is not only a mere tirade, this one is an intolerable ruckus.

<strong>Desi Kattey is a giant bore</strong><br/> Desi Kattey is an insipid mishmash of just about every script engaging two friends going separate ways meets underdog sports hero, rants Sukanya Verma. A game of connect-the-dots on a blank sheet is how I can best sum up Anand Kumar's giant bore named Desi Kattey. Everything happens so randomly in this story of two childhood friends who grow up to become ace marksmen in the world of crime.

Two kids grow up playing and dealing with 'desi' guns and rapidly become local goons in Kanpur. While one- Gyani (Jay Bhanushali) is hot-headed, the other-Pali (Akhil Kapur) is loquacious.

<strong>Suniel Shetty looks drawn, Ashutosh Rana catches the eye</strong><br/> mall UP town. Powerful local 'bahubali'. Gun-running 'ganda dhanda'. Small kids growing up in a criminalised atmosphere to become gunslingers: each item gets ticked off in this hideously loud film. Gyani (Jay Bhanushali) and Paali (Akhil Kapur) are best friends, and their ambition is to become crime lords under the mentorship of the big bad 'ilaake ka dada' (Ashutosh Rana).

Somewhere in the late nineties, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma made a film by the name of SATYA, which eventually gave rise to a new genre of filmmaking which dealt with guns, underworld and likes. This also gave rise to many aspiring filmmakers who jumped onto this bandwagon and tried their hands at this 'genre' of film making. While some failed miserably, some did make their mark in the tinsel town. This week's release DESI KATTEY is producer cum director Anand Kumar's attempt at how the world of two children working in a pistol factory change when they eventually grow up to be ace sharpshooters. Does Anand Kumar deliver as a filmmaker or does he too joins the ranks of other film makers who have bitten the dust, let's analyze.
