Storyline

It is almost embarrassing to have to review a film like this one. For Here Or To Go? feels, sounds and looks like the result you would get if someone handed a lot of pocket money and a camera to a not-so-bright kindergarten student. We all tend to be generous in our critiques of children's work, but the dilemma here lies in the fact that director Rucha Humnabadkar is not a kid. Time for some tough love then, I guess?
"For here or to go?" the question asked on ordering a meal at an American fast-food restaurant is the motif underlying the film. Whether Vivek Pandit (Ali Fazal), Lakshmi (Omi Vaidya) and Amit (Amitosh Nagpal) can settle in America or head back to India depends on the US immigration laws that they are up against.
Indie films featuring NRIs in the US are typical. Cultural differences culminate in comic circumstances, the great American dream crumbles and immigrant issues surface. Here, we also have an ABCD (American-born-confused-desi) who hopes to connect with her roots by admitting her love for the motherland in her distinct twang: "I love masala choy!"
Three Indians - Vivek Pandit (Ali Fazal), Omi Vaidya (Lakshmi) and Amit (Amitosh Nagpal) can't decide whether they want to settle in the US or go back home. On hand is an uncertain foreign land where they have go through a lot of paperwork while on the other hand is the comfort of being at home.
