GATTU is a Hindi feature film which released on 20th July, 2012. It is a film for children directed by Rajan Khosa.Story : Gattu (Mohammad Samad) is an orphan boy who lives in the Himalayan foothills. There isn't much in his life to look forward to but he has been blessed with a great quantity of spunk and willpower. He works for his uncle by doing odd jobs for him. Thus he has to remain away from school. But while working for his uncle, he keeps watching the sky; especially the kites flying. Though he enjoys the flies of kites, he gets disturbed to see a black kite called as black 'Kali'. This kite has glass coated string so no one can fight with it in the kite fight. If any kite comes in its contact, the black kite cuts it and keeps on teasing every body that he is the best and have supreme power. Gattu doesn't like it at all.Even though Gattu gets fascinated by the power of Kali, he does not like its supremacy and wants to end its sovereignty in the sky also because all other kite fliers have given up! They have lost the hope of defeating Kali (the nick name given by them to the black kite).Gattu knows how Kali could be defeated; he knows the secret that if a kite is flied from the highest point of the village, Kali would be defeated. To fight the battle with Kali he guises himself as a real student in a real school (whereas he is a fake student) by stealing school's uniform so that he could wage a war against Kali. However, he also discovers for the 1st time the joy of learning in school (of which he always remained deprived of)! However he remains stuck to his real goal to conquer Kali.He chooses his school terrace to wage the war against Kali.Is he able to conquer Kali? What was the secret of Kali? Who was behind it? How could Gattu win the battle with Kali? Do his lies get caught? The remaining queries are answered in the remaining part of the film.Acting : Mohammad Samad in the role of Gattu has done excellent job. He looks good and his dialogue delivery is good. He wins the heart of the audience by his powerful performance.Script : The screenplay is written in a well manner. This film has been written for children who will not get confused. Dialogues are simple for children to understand (No preachy dialogues). Message given by the writer is admirable.Music : Music composed by Sandesh Shandilya is up to the mark and suits the subject of the film.Direction : Rajan Khosa, the director of this film, has directed it very well. He has kept all the prospective of the mind of children. He has not tried to portray a character of a child who seeks sympathy. His character is adventurous, who knows to take risk and thinks like a grown up. The director has told the story in a simple manner which will be easier for the children to understand and enjoy. He has also tried to keep suspense to some extent. He has kept this film just for 82 minutes and it does not bore you anywhere.Plus Point: Mohammad Samad's Performances; Good ThemeConclusion : Since it has no big names as its stars, it may not attract too many audiences. But it is a good film for children as well as for adults. So parents may be tempted to take their child to the theatres. In that case it should do good business; at least average business.Verdict : Worth watching! If you have any child, you must go for it with him/her!
