A flamboyant Tamil Brahmin lad, Sriram Venkat (Imran Khan) lives in Bangalore with his traditional family. The young architect Sriram loves to impress girls and has some short-term love affairs. One day, the family finalizes Sriram's to-be-bride as Vasudha (Shraddha Kapoor), who hails from the similar community. Vasudha, being unhappy with this marriage, asks Sriram to say no for it, as she loves someone else from Punjabi community. Careless about emotions and relationships, Sriram ignores Vasudha and agrees for the marriage, inviting celebration time for both the families. Vasudha decides to have some discussion with Sriram on this matter and both meet in a hotel. During this, she makes Sriram to talk about his previous love story. Sriram narrates it in a very casual way to Vasudha, but fails to hide his real emotions.

His earlier love interest, Dia Sharma (Kareena Kapoor) comes into the scene. Dia hails from Delhi and is a bold social activist, who has devoted her life for the nation's betterment. She has ultimate dream of making India corruption free and the beauty leaves no stone unturned from her side to make it happen. Sriram gets highly impressed at initial phase with Dia's dedication towards her work and her aim. They slowly start developing love bond for each other. However, the things go wrong and gradually the duo realizes that they are not meant for each other, as they have nothing common and share different ideologies. Hence, they part ways with bitter memories in heart. The camera shifts into present situation where Sriram and Vasudha are sitting in a hotel. Finally, the day of marriage arrives and the air starts filling up with emotional tension. In the mandap, the rituals start with Vasudha and Sriram, the two unhappy souls. During their talks, Vasudha makes Sriram realize his real feelings for Dia and asks him to run away from the mandap to be with Dia forever. Confused initially, Sriram eventually escapes from the mandap giving everyone a big shock.
