One line Review: 'Ab Tak Chhappan 2', a soul-less action drama.
Positive Points: Performances of the actors, few shooting locations
Negative Points: Poor direction, weak screenplay, dullish action sequences
Plot: To Handle the un-controlled crime situation in Mumbai, Politician (Vikram Gokhale) and Ex-commissioner Pradhan (Mohan Agashe) called back the suspended ex-encounter specialist Sadhu Agashe (Nana Patekar) to take control of the situation as there were multiple cases already running on him. After his wife's (Revathi) death in a gun-shoot, Sadhu went to a remote area (Goa) with his son so as to protect him as he considered himself guilty for his wife. He rejected the offer but his son forced him to get back on his duly as he wished to see him as a cop again. Sadhu got back with his son to Mumbai and started to manage the department but the situation was now different and in an unfortunate attack he loses his only son which he feared for. As he tries to recover from the grief, then reveals a new secret in the department, how will Sadhu control the situation skilfully is the further watch.
Direction and other Technical Aspects: The director Aejaz Gulab totally failed to deliver what was expected from the action packed movie. The talented and endowed senior artists are not used to their full potential. The direction and the screen play is very weak, one can easily get bored after watching the movie for 15 minutes. Cinematography (camera work) is below average. Editing department managed by Vinay Chauhan looks very unprofessional. In few places one scene jumps to the next and is clearly visible, which proofed poor editing. The character of Gul Panag is forcefully inserted without any vision, but she acted her part very well as a young journalist.
Vikram Gokhale as a politician looks brilliant. Other most senior artist like Govind Namdeo, Gul Panag, Raj Zutshi, Ashutosh Rana also gave remarkable performances though were not used well in the film.
Music: There is no song in the movie, but the background score by Sandeep Chowta also is not much impressive as is expected from an action thriller movie.
Final Verdict: The main attraction of the movie is its title 'Ab Tak Chhappan' (2004) which was a blockbuster. The audiences expecting for an action packed movie will drown in disappointments. If you are a diehard fan of Nana Patekar still you will not enjoy the movie to the core as there are hardly any strong dialogues for him to thrill the silver screen. This unfortunately was a worthless movie to spend your time and money on! And I would go for 1/5 star only for the senior artist.
