KAHAANI is a Hindi feature film which instead of releasing on Friday released on Thursday 8th March, 2012, due to Holi. This film has been directed by Sujoy Ghosh and falls under the genre of Drama/ Thriller.
Story : The story revolves around Vidya Venkatesan Bagchi (Vidya Balan) who is the protagonist of this film. She lives in London and is married and is also a software engineer. She is a Tamil but is married to a Bengali. She is 7 months pregnant. But she is living her life in tension because her husband, who had come to India, Kolkata, has gone missing. She doesn't know where her husband has vanished and how to find him out. Finally, she visits India, Kolkata to find out her husband Arnab Bagchi.
But it is almost impossible to find out her husband.
What is the mystery of Vidya's husband? Why has he gone missing? Where is he? Is he alive or dead?? All these queries are answered in the rest of the film.
Acting : Vidya Balan proved in THE DIRTY PICTURE that she can do glamorous roles. In this film she proves that she can do such type of roles too as effectively. In fact she has proved earlier in her films such as PAREENITA that she is a superb actress. She has completely justified her role in this film and needs applause for her performance. Rests of the actors are also okay.
Script : The story and screenplay are gripping and keep you hooked. There are some flaws in the screenplay which can be ignored due to filmy liberty.
Music : Music is according to the content of the film.
Direction : The director Sujoy Ghosh has succeeded in building suspense right from the beginning. He has done good job in filming Kolkata.

Conclusion : Due to the suspense element and excellent performance of Vidya, this film should gain revenues and attract viewers. Also this film released on the festival Holi so it should get its benefit in terms of revenues.
