A biopic on Bruce Lee in the making; Shekhar Kapur to direct the film!
Shekhar Kapur will be directing a biopic on Bruce Lee and the film is being planned as an US-China co-production.
After a long time, director Shekhar Kapur will sit on the director’s chair. Famously known for his Academy Award-winning film, ‘Elizabeth’, the veteran director is all set to helm his yet another foreign project. A biopic on Chinese-American martial artist superstar, Bruce Lee, is in the pipeline and the makers have approached Kapur to direct the film. “We are working on the script,” Shekhar said, adding that the first script draft was written by Bruce’s daughter, Shannon Lee. The film will be titled, ‘Little Dragon’.
The feature film will revolve around Lee’s early life before he left Hong Kong for Hollywood and went on to become an icon and Kung-Fu movie master in the 1970s and his early death at the age of only 32. ‘Little Dragon’ is being planned as an official US-China co-production, with several Chinese companies expected to co-produce the film.
Talking with a leading daily, Kapur expressed his thought of Indian movies have a scope in Chinese markets, he said, “I used to say Indian films will definitely be very popular in China and yes, they are. ‘Dangal’ has proved what I said.”
Being an Indian director, Kapur has the first-hand experience in directing foreign films. All his films from ‘Elizabeth’ series were well received. But very few filmmakers have attempted to make a biopic on the late legend. It would be great to witness how Kapur brings the life of Lee on the silver screen.
