'People for Better Treatment', which is a patients' body has come out in support of Aamir Khan for highlighting the 'rot' prevalent in the Indian healthcare delivery system in his popular Sunday TV show 'Satyamev Jayate'. Aamir has been the target of protests by IMA (Indian Medical Association) and a section of the medical community for highlighting the issue of negligence and corruption in the healthcare in 'Satyamev Jayate'.

A group of doctors have demanded an apology from the actor while some doctors have also threatened a demotion lawsuit against Aamir for showing one-sided story.

"There is no denying that the healthcare system in India has been riddled with negligence and corruption. Doctors involved with other Machiavellian activities that are clearly against accepted medical ethics can be found in almost every medical office and hospital," the president of 'People for Better Treatment', Kunal Saha, said.

Mr Kunal Saha said, "Deep-rooted corruption has plagued even Medical Council of India (MCI) - the highest regulatory body for control of healthcare education and medical practice in India." He further added that the reason for such an overtly exaggerated response from the doctors to an ordinary TV program was indeed bewildering.
