After making a movie on menstruation, Twinkle Khanna to now work on reproductive rights!

Actor turned author, Twinkle Khanna, recently turned producer with the film, Pad Man, and it became an instant hit. The movie is based on her novel and deals with the issue of menstruation. Within 3 days of the release, the movie collected all its pre and post-production cost and now it’s earning high profits. Twinkle attended the success celebration of her film and discussion organised by UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to discuss the taboo around menstrual hygiene on Wednesday in Mumbai.

Asked whether she has any films in the pipeline after PadMan, Twinkle said: “I don’t know about a movie but next I would like to work for the reproductive rights and that would be my next venture.”

Where things like these are still considered as taboo in major parts of the world, Twinkle has taken a teeny-tiny step to make a change through her movie.

Though her first movie received appreciation from all across, we can’t say how the nation will react if a movie on reproductive system ever made.

Pad Man was a social message driven movie but also has a humorous touch to it. People here tend to enjoy more of a comedy-drama then an actual serious film, so it will be awaited to see how Twinkle shapes up her idea of making a film on reproductive rights.

For the uninitiated, Pad Man, that released last Friday, till date has collected Rs. 59.09 crores and still running successfully.
