Alia Bhatt is one fine actress who learned the craft in such a short span of time. In her 6 years of career, she has mostly done romantic dramas, but her performances in Highway and Udta Punjab proved that she is here to raise the bar. And now, she will be seen in Karan Johar’s Kalank, which will be her first ever period film. The film is being directed by Abhishek Varman, and in just four days of the shoot, she has sucked into the cinematic world the director has created.
Speaking with a leading daily, the 25-years-old actress said, “Kalank is my first epic-drama. It is an ambitious but emotional story. I’m reuniting with Varun (Dhawan), and every time we shoot together, it’s super special. It’s only been four days but I’m completed sucked into the cinematic world Abhishek is creating. On Friday, I will be shooting with Madhuri Dixit for the first time. I hope I don’t forget my lines when I see her smile!"
She also added, "I went from Raazi to Gully Boy to Brahmastra, then, back to Gully Boy. After Kalank, I’ll return to Brahmastra. I don’t know how I am doing it, I just show up on the set, taking one day at a time. It helps that I’m an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ person.”
Kalank is Alia’s fourth collaboration with Varun, and it also stars Madhuri, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha.
Co-produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film will come out on April 19th 2019.
