Alia Bhatt reveals why she gave a nod to Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi

Bollywood diva Alia Bhatt who gave a blockbuster hit with Badrinath Ki Dulhania has an interesting line up of films like Gully Boy, Dragon, and Aashiqui 3. The young star is on a career high with back to back hits and charming performances. Lately she made news for signing Meghna Gulzar ’s upcoming film Raazi alongside Vicky Kaushal. The film is based on a sensitive subject and the actress plays a Kashmiri spy in the movie. In a media interaction with a leading daily, Alia opened her heart out about the film and why she gave a nod to the project.

Alia Bhatt stated, "I had not read the book when Meghna came to me about a year-and-a-half ago. There was just a basic one-line story idea. I told her that this is something that I would love to do. Usually, we green light a script, but in my head, I had agreed to do Raazi even without the script. It’s a true story, and when I heard the turn of events, I had goosebumps. I couldn’t believe it. Then, they came back to me and I read the first 20 pages of the story and I knew that if I want to do that one film a year that challenges me, this is that film."

The actress added, “Actors want to do that one big Hindi film every year, but I want to do that one film that will completely challenge me and turn everything upside down. It happened with Highway, Udta Punjab, Dear Zindagi and now with Raazi. I am so scared and nervous to go on this journey, because of the kind of intensity of this character."

Vicky Kaushal is glad to be working with Alia Bhatt and Meghna Gulzar as he shared his views with the media recently. He plays a Pakistani Army Officer and Alia essays his wife. Raazi will be filmed in Punjab and Kashmir in an extended schedule starting from July. Later a small portion will be shot in Mumbai, as per the reports. The film is produced by Junglee Pictures and Dharma Productions.
