There are only a few filmmakers who frequently tend to make period drama and with the time they excel at it! And Ashutosh Gowariker is one of those directors who has directed magnum opuses like Jodha Akbar , Lagaan and even Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey which were praised for their story and screenplay. And now as per the updates, the acclaimed director is all set to make another period film based on the life on legendary singer-dancer Gauhar Jaan, who was the first performers to record music on 78 rpm vinyl records in India, and released by Gramophone Company of India!
As Ashutosh revealed, “Recently, I have acquired a book called My Name Is Gauhar Jaan by Vikram Sampat. She is the first lady who recorded for Gramophone Company Of India. She is a great singer from a forgotten era. I think it is a lovely story. So, it is quite inspiring. Indeed, the story and the plotline would oath to be an aspiring tale of passion to follow your desire despite living in the odd era! The story would definitely turn out to be empowering one!
