'Bombay Velvet' a joint venture by Phantom and Fox Star Studios

The famous banner Fox Star Studios in partnership with Phantom Films will co-produce Anurag Kashyap 's next film, ' Bombay Velvet '. The film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma , will go on floors in July 2013 and is slated for a worldwide release on 25th Dec 2014. The first film of a trilogy, as planned by Anurag Kashyap , ' Bombay Velvet ' is the story of how the city became a Metropolis, set against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and Jazz.

RK junior Ranbir Kapoor and lively beauty Anushka Sharma , will share the screen space in this film as lovers whose lives amalgamate with the evolution of the city of Bombay, through the 50s to early 70s. The filmmaker Anurag Kashyap said that, ' Bombay Velvet ' is his first film in a trilogy about Mumbai, before it became a Metropolis. He expressed that it's a story that has always fascinated him and he along with the team has been developing it for about four years. Kashyap also said that he is very excited that now it is fully ready and will begin shooting this year.

While, Vikas Bahl of Phantom Films said that, ' Bombay Velvet ' is intricately researched and beautifully fictionalized by Anurag Kashyap as to how one of the greatest cities of the world was created amidst loads of action, romance, pain and huge drama. He said that they are looking forward to work together with Fox Star to create a phenomenal cinematic experience of this story for the big screen. Amit Trivedi has already started working on composing the music of the film, which will be reminiscent of the golden sound of 60's.

Vijay Singh, the CEO of Fox Star Studios, India stated that, they are delighted to partner with Anurag Kashyap on his next directorial venture ' Bombay Velvet '. He also expressed that Anurag is one of the best storytellers today in Bollywood. He will surely bring alive Bombay in its original glory. What will make this cinematic journey unique will be the presence of Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma as the lead protagonists. Behl added that, ' Bombay Velvet ' is yet another example of high concept cinema that they want to be known for at Fox Star Studios.
